Contributor’s Note:  Folk/singer-songwriter Brigitte DeMeyer joins The Don’s Hit List with The Don & The Grizz for the 268th episode via FAB Radio International.  In this episode, Brigitte discusses her latest album “Seeker”, which is available now on all digital streaming platforms.

We start the show with Track 3: “Salt of the Earth” from her album “Seeker”.

3:54 –  Track 1:  “All the Blue”. Inspired by needing to uplift a very hardworking cowboy friend. “High cotton” refers to the wealthy and privileged, and is a Southernism, used here for those who don’t necessarily know what it’s like to struggle.  The moment from 2:36 – 2:59 has a bass note hit here that is incredible

Victor Krause is the bass player. We also discuss the intro bass parts that begin the song and set the mood.

11:28 – Track 4:  Louisiana. The mysterious, spooky, funky, and seductive vibe of New Orleans has long been a haunting source of inspiration for DeMeyer. This song is a tribute to this favorite city of hers. Written in Paris, France while on tour and missing the U.S. Her favorite track on the album.

We go to 2:20 – 3:20 and the vocals are incredible!   This song took over a year to write. We then dive into French art and history, and horses.  Jano Ri had a great production job.

21:06 – Track 8:  “Wishbone”  Written when laid up with a broken ankle after an equestrian accident. Not being able to walk makes you appreciate the little things. Like being able to walk. You have to hit the bottom sometimes before you can see the top. We go to 2:09 – 3:09 Gorgeous bridge and then coming back in with the full band sound

29:13 – Track 6: “Already In”. A love song, pure and simple, for DeMeyer’s husband. You don’t have to wonder if you fit in. When someone loves you, you’re “already in. We go to 0:48 – 1:48 beautiful from the music and vocals.
