Tommy Elliott of BAKER’S DOZEN Converses with Madness To Creation on Mental Health Awareness, “Cake and Chaos”, and Las Vegas!

Editor’s Note:  On May 31st, Las Vegas punk n rollers Baker’s Dozen released their latest album entitled “Cake and Chaos” via Pavement Entertainment.  The album promises to deliver some deliciousness as their unique concoction of punk and hard rock serves as icing on the cake.  Okay, enough puns regarding cake.  Composed of Tommy Elliott on lead vocals, Zach Ruble on guitars/vocals, Dave Karr on bass/vocals, and Jake Pilcher on drums, the band cites The Damned, Guns ‘N’ Roses, and Buckcherry as their main influences.  In this interview, vocalist Tommy Elliott sits down with Madness To Creation to discuss the Las Vegas music scene, “Cake and Chaos” and even shares about mental health awareness.  Fans can find Baker’s Dozen at the following locations:

Madness To Creation:  You released “Cake & Chaos” via Pavement Entertainment.  How has the response been to that album so far?

Tommy: Cake and Chaos was released May 31st and so far the response has been blowing our minds. We’ve been getting love in our hometown for a while but now we’re starting to get that universal love. It’s exciting and intimidating at the same time.

Madness To Creation:  How do you make Baker‘s Dozen stand out in the Las Vegas scene?

Tommy: I don’t know if there is any trick to that. We just kinda stayed in our own bubble and did our own thing. We didn’t ask anybody if it was cool our not. We just stuck to our own devices and let the world burn around us. We didn’t really fit the mold anywhere in the Las Vegas scene and we weren’t really concerned with it.

Madness To Creation:  Favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?

Tommy: My favorite thing to do in Las Vegas is EAT! Man, we have some of the most awesome places in the country to get your grub on! You can usually get whatever your having a hankering for any time day or night! The 24/7 aspect is pretty cool.

Madness To Creation:  I saw that you have a few covers on YouTube, favorite cover song to play?

Tommy: Zach Ruble (guitar) and I were originally in an AC/DC tribute together before we formed Backer’s Dozen, so we know a little Accadacca. We added Rosie as a cover a while back and that one is always a killer. But I’m really digging the cover of New Rose by The Damned that we do. We’re fans and I hope it shows.

Madness To Creation:  What can fans expect from Baker‘s Dozen this summer?

Tommy: With our music starting to permeate the airwaves, we are looking forward to getting out there and rocking the masses. Live performance is what we live for.

Madness To Creation:  We are also geared towards mental health and awareness.  Why is mental health awareness important to you?

Tommy: Many folks dealing with psychological issues feel alone and ashamed dealing with their situation. The more knowledge and understanding we all have on mental health can bring about compassion through awareness. Learn to listen to those who need an ear.

Madness To Creation:  What message do you have for any of your fans that are struggling?

Tommy: We all get to thinking the struggle is all there is, that everything is hopeless and life’s just full of mistakes waiting to happen. But the hard times just make us stronger and teach us how to love ourselves in order to let others love us.  My message is you’re loved.

Madness To Creation:  What else do you want to add about Baker‘s Dozen?

Tommy: We are looking forward to coming your way and sharing our infectious blend of American punk ’n’ roll with ya real soon. We’re gassing up the roller coaster… Do roller coasters take gas? Ours does…because it’s American.

Madness To Creation:  Thank you for taking the time to interview with me for Madness To Creation!

Tommy:  Thank you for giving me the time to shoot the shit. We appreciate all the support!

And there you have it!  Baker’s Dozen has a gig on Thursday, June 13th at Count’s Vamp’d in Las Vegas, Nevada with Dirty Pairadice and The Remainz.  For tickets and further information, click here.
