Madness To Creation:  I absolutely love the sincerity behind “From The Start”, take us into this song, what inspired you to write it?

Michael Shaun Brown:  My wife Aaryn always wanted me to write a song for her. I always knew that if I did, I wanted it to be special and really mean something. So I wrote “From the Start” as a surprise gift to her on our wedding day.

Madness To Creation:  How has Covid-19 impacted you in terms of promoting your music and social media?  Have you done any livestreams?

Michael Shaun Brown:  Covid definitely put the brakes on me promoting my music for a while. It took a bit to regain balance after having to take a “normal” job, moving halfway across the country, and trying to raise a two year old in the middle of all of that. But, I feel like I’ve regained that balance and I’m more excited than ever to share new music with the world.  I didn’t do any live stream shows because honestly…. that’s just not my thing. I think it is a great outlet and tons of my friends in the industry have had great success with it. I just never got into doing it personally.

Madness To Creation:  Give us your favorite pre-Covid-19 memory on stage and most humbling moment on stage?

Michael Shaun Brown:  Well, I used to play five nights a week in downtown Nashville at Tootsies with my band “Bone Feather” when we weren’t touring or in the studio. During that time, we had some pretty memorable nights there. P!nk came to our show one night after her concert at Bridgestone arena and hung out with us and sang a song with us. Toby Keith has stopped in to our show more than once to hang out and sing some songs. We played with Kid Rock at his bar a few times. Chris Pratt came in one night to watch us play and sang a Garth Brooks song with us. There’s been several times Pre-Covid that will go down in the history books – that’s for sure. I can’t seem to pinpoint only one.

Madness To Creation:  How has uprooting to a rural environment helped your songwriting?

Michael Shaun Brown:  It has just helped me get back to my roots. I grew up in a very rural, or what we call a “country” environment. City life really can put a hurtin’ on a good ole boy from Southwest Virginia. So, I think more than anything it has just helped relieve some of the stresses that come with day to day life in the city and that in itself has led to me wanting to be creative more.

Madness To Creation:  What’s your mentality when you have that pen and paper or when you’re in that studio to record?

Michael Shaun Brown:  I just like for the process to be natural. I don’t really like to force anything and my mentality is… if it sounds right… write it, and if it feels right… play it.

Madness To Creation:  We cover mental health awareness at Madness To Creation, tell us what gets you through when times are difficult?

Michael Shaun Brown:  Family, friends, and music. Always has, always will.

Madness To Creation:  What do you hope 2021 brings?

Michael Shaun Brown:  Prosperity for the folks that have been out of work or struggling for most all of 2020, in the music industry, and everywhere else too.

Madness To Creation:  What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in 2020?

Michael Shaun Brown:  The biggest thing that I’ve learned this year is that the wind in your sails can change direction at any time.

Madness To Creation:  What can we expect from Michael Shaun Brown in 2021?

Michael Shaun Brown:  New music. I have quite a few things up my sleeve for 2021, so be on the lookout!
