(Mental Health Conversations): Jared Navarre of STATIC CYCLE

Editor’s Note:  Forget 2020.  Static Cycle is not letting 2020 get to them.  They have released several singles as of late entitled “Wolf”, “Boxes” and most recently “Stay”.  “Stay” is an incredibly personal song that takes the account of Jared(frontman)’s best friend’s son, who tragically passed away during physical education class.  Jared talked to his best friend Ian’s father and they come up with a beautiful yet somber concept about celebrating unity and sharing in one another’s burdens.  Fans were asked to submit handwritten notes of the person that they’ve lost in their lives in order to tell Ian’s story.  The video is a tearjerker for sure.  In this mental health conversation with Madness To Creation, Jared Navarre of Static Cycle discusses the “Stay” music video, what’s next for 2021 and mental health awareness.  Fans can find Static Cycle at the following locations:

Madness To Creation:  The song “Stay” really hits close to home especially considering all the loss that we’ve had this year in 2020.  Take us into that song and what inspired you and the band to make the video like you did.

Jared Navarre:  The song was written for a close friend who passed suddenly in gym class. With all the loss everyone has experienced this year, I thought it was a good opportunity to bring fans, friends and family together so we could share in the grief and healing. There’s something cathartic about understanding other people’s struggle or loss while you’re going through your own.

Madness To Creation:  How have you coped with your loss?  For those that are experiencing loss, what has helped you get through?

Jared Navarre:  My mom actually passed three days before Stay was released. I’m really still in the middle of learning how to cope with this loss. My only advice would be to be around people you love as often as you can.

Madness To Creation:  What’s the biggest lesson you’ve had from 2020?

Jared Navarre:  I’ve learned not to take live music for granted. There are so many pleasures and comforts that we didn’t fully appreciate until they were simultaneously taken away.

Madness To Creation:  Over the years, Static Cycle has toured with the likes of Ludacris, Drowning Pool, and Seether, what were some of your favorite memories from those shows?

Jared Navarre:  I would go out on stage every night and sing “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” with Drowning Pool. I’d finish the night by jumping out into the crowd and crowdsurfing.

Madness To Creation:  How are you celebrating the holidays?

Jared Navarre:  I  think I’m going to have to spend Thanksgiving in bed. Covid: 1 Jared: 0 I better be back to 100% by Christmas so I can spend time with my family.

Madness To Creation:  What’s the first thing you want to do when the Covid-19 pandemic is over?

Jared Navarre:  Give myself whiplash from head banging so hard on stage.

Madness To Creation:  What’s next for Static Cycle?

Jared Navarre:  We’re going to keep releasing music but honestly, we just have to wait until we can play. We’ve created this amazing immersive, live show unlike anything that’s ever been done – we dump snow on the audience, we pump scent in the building – but all we can do now is wait until the world is ready.

The vision that I have for this site was that I was getting weary of sites that evolve from the original message to what I refer to as "tabloid magazine stand at the grocery store checkouts" kind of sites. My heart is with the underground bands and for the bands/artists that strive to hit that dream, and they spend thousands of dollars on equipment just to play a $100 show! Please contact me and I will review you. I promise to bring you quality news, interviews, and reviews.
