Madness To Creation: You’ve released the single for “Love It, Leave It”, take us into that single and what was the most challenging and rewarding aspect in terms of creating that song?
Becca Bowen: The first time this song was pitched to me I knew that I had to record it. This song was very therapeutic for me to sing. I have been through some difficult relationships but I am the strong women that I am today because of those difficulties.
Madness To Creation: You have a couple viral videos for Carolina Crazy Outdoors, what bet did you lose? And what do you love about the outdoors?
Becca Bowen: I have been passionate about the outdoors for most of my life. When I was a child I started fishing with my grandfather and from there I began hunting with my brother. This was a way for us to provide for our families. It’s a family tradition! In this video that went viral I had a bet with my friend Tim as to who would harvest a Buck first. Of course he won and because of that I had to be the one to live up to the bet! What I love most about the outdoors is the memories and bond I have with my family whom I spend time with, enjoying what the outdoors has to offer. Whether that is hiking, camping, fishing, hunting or just spending time on the lake.
Madness To Creation: They call you “Country Barbie”, how did you get that nickname?
Becca Bowen: I grew up as your typical southern belle. I did pageants but also spent my weekends in the outdoors getting muddy, fishing or hunting. I was a true tomboy. Because of my diverse background and my beauty queen appearance someone started calling me Country Barbie. That nickname stuck. Since then I get called that more so than Becca.
Madness To Creation: You are Miss Bikini Fitness, I know that takes some preparation, what are some workout regiments that you do and how do you stay disciplined?
Becca Bowen: Nutrition is key to me. I try to limit my sugar intake and eat clean when I can. I workout 4 to 5 times a week weight training and also doing cardio. Staying disciplined is a challenge. I always say it’s mind over matter. I stay busy with my career and on some days I don’t feel motivated to go to the gym. I’ve learned that if I push myself to go to the gym I will find my motivation once walking through the door.
Madness To Creation: What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Becca Bowen: My absolute favorite is a cheese pizza from Mellow Mushroom and then a sonic blast! I’m a simple girl and when I splurge on calories it’s usually with pizza or ice cream.
Madness To Creation: You’ve opened for Alabama and James Brown, how cool was that, and what were your favorite memories opening for them?
Becca Bowen: I will never forget opening up for Alabama at one of the biggest festivals in Alabama. They estimated 100,000 people were in attendance. It was one of the biggest shows that I have ever opened up for. I remember the lights shining out to the audience and I was in disbelief of how many people were there. It literally took my breath away. I was nervous but knew at that moment I wanted to have a career on the stage!
Becca Bowen: Living in America was one of my favorite songs James Brown sang because it was powerful. He sang it on stage with everything he had. You could feel his energy and since then that was my favorite song of his. Although I do love the song I feel good. I can’t help but dance to that one .
Madness To Creation: You’re going to be on the Outdoor Channel’s For Love Or Likes premiering April 2021, what can fans expect?
Becca Bowen: You can expect an intense hunting show with challenges, hunts and also a since of family traditions. This show empowers women and is why I chose to be apart of it. I am excited for it to air.
Madness To Creation: We cover mental health awareness at Madness To Creation, I’m sure that working out gets you through, what else gets you through?
Becca Bowen: Working out plays a huge part of my mental health, my faith and also my children. I believe that we all have to have a “Why” and my why is my children. I am a single mom and there have been times when I had become overwhelmed with difficulties and felt like giving up but when I remember my “Why” , it brings me back to the strong women that I know I can be.
Madness To Creation: Where do you see Becca Bowen in the near future in terms of her career?
Becca Bowen: I see that I will continue my success in the music career. I have big dreams and I am determined to strive for what I want for me and my children. My goal is to make a difference. I would like to use my music and story to touch the hearts of others.
Madness To Creation: What else would you like to add?
Becca Bowen: I would like to say never give up on your dreams. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your life circumstances may be. Always have a dream and something to work for.
