Madness To Creation

Where Insanity and Creativity Collide!

(Concert Review) SILVERSTEIN & FOUR YEAR STRONG Live at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey (3/7/2020)

4 min read

Luckily, we got to see Silverstein and Four Year Strong as Silverstein celebrated 20 years as a band with three sets with Four Year Strong providing support along with I, The Mighty!  It was a packed house as Silverstein has the reputation of absolutely delivering each and every night live!  Silverstein has also released “A Beautiful Place To Drown” while Four Year Strong is celebrating the recent release of “Brain Pain” via Pure Noise Records.  I, The Mighty was the first band on the bill.

San Francisco’s I, The Mighty were the perfect crowd to warm up the crowd for Silverstein and Four Year Strong.  Their vocals are soulful and versatile, and the guitars seemed to have provided perfect harmonics in order to create a fantastic alternative rock sound.  The songs “Pet Names”, “Failures” and “The Lying Eyes of Miss Erray” really got the crowd moving.  They kept it upbeat and lighthearted.  Four Year Strong was the next band to take the stage.

Four Year Strong just started off with their take no prisoners moxie to really get the audience moving!  You can tell that there was an audience that came there primarily to see Four Year Strong.  They started off their set with “It Must Really Suck to Be Four Year Strong Right Now”, and the energy that they possessed with “We All Float Down Here”.  People sang that song at the top of their lungs, and there was a really cool collective headbanging for “Get Out Of My Head”.  The audience really enjoyed the cuts from their latest album “Brain Pain”.  Their set was energetic, tight and the band is just a blast live!

After I, The Mighty and Four Year Strong warmed up the crowd, Silverstein took over the stage.  This tour served two purposes.  The first purpose was to support “A Beautiful Place To Drown” and secondly the band is performing three sets to celebrate 20 years as a band!  It was plain to see why Silverstein have been around for 20 years, because they deliver each and every damn night live!  They started off with “Burn It Down” and “Retrograde”, which got the crowd going ballistic.  After a couple of medleys, they got the crowd in a massive singalong with their One Republic cover of “Apologize” and they closed off the first set with “The Afterglow”.  They played an acoustic set which made it feel like a personal invitation to their living room and then the crowd went crazy the whole time over them playing “Discovering The Waterfront” in its entirety.  This night was for any Silverstein fan that was there for the band from day one and also for those that might have been “late to the party”.  We cannot wait to see them again!
