Madness To Creation

Where Insanity and Creativity Collide!

(Concert Review) KANSAS Live at Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (5/30/2019)

4 min read

This tour is a landmark tour of sorts for legendary classic rock band Kansas as they are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their landmark album “Point of Know Return”.  On this night, however, it was the “Kansas Classics” version as they play their hits that we know and love plus a couple of surprises.

When people think of Kansas, the Kansas fans automatically think of their landmark albums “Point of Know Return” and “Leftoverture”.  Those albums would go on to sell over 12 million copies combined.  This night was for the Kansas fans that have stuck with the band for over 40 years.  It was a night where you get to hear songs that you might not expect to hear at a Kansas concert, and it turned out that the fans were so appreciative of it as memories flooded of where they were when “Point of Know Return” and “Leftoverture” was spinning on their record players at home.

Tonight, people sang, swayed and belted out the songs in “Point of Know Return”.  Who can forget the classics “Dust In The Wind”, “Hold On”, and their encore “Carry On Wayward Son”  The interesting thing was that Ronnie Platt joined Kansas as a frontman in 2014, and he has helped carry on the legacy of Kansas with his wide range vocals coupled with David Ragsdale’s beautiful playing of the violin.  Phil Ehart and Rich Williams reminded us why they are legends on the guitar and drums with their effortless playing as well.  And of course, the band closed out the night with the Guitar Hero classic and all-time classic “Carry On Wayward Son”.

  1. A couple of mistakes:
this was not a point of know return 40th anniversary concert. They did not play the album in its entirety that night.

cold gray morning is not a classic from point of know return, it came out in the mid-90s and is not widely known.

Theirs names are Phil Ehart and Richard Williams. You have the last names switched.
