The Musician’s Tribune Vol. 40: “My Personal Spotify Playlist” by WELSH AVENUE

Texas-based, pop/alt-electro  piano project, Welsh Avenue, announces the title track from his new EP, New Days  due out July 12,  2019. Receiving accolades from A&R Factory, SKope Magazine, Music Existence, among other buzz blogs, the single is a bubbly segue-way into New Days’ uplifting, imaginative sound.

“New Ways is about exploring the unknown, while following a dream,”  says DiLillo.

He continues,  “Of course, the dream is the unknown; one  can only get nuances of a calling, or dream. A single person can only get so far, but with a team, or with genuine relationship, the options are infinite. The title track points to these infinite options that are contained within the pursuit of the unknown. A product of this pursuit is novelty, provided by life itself. Some of this novelty is useful, some of it is not. Some of it is good, some of it is harmful. Navigating these new things, experiences, and relationships is the key to moving forward versus stagnation. This navigation is what informs New Ways.  Many parts of life will bring you down, but one must find the parts that are positive.”

Moniker for pianist/songwriter, Mark DiLillo, Welsh Avenue sprouted from extensive classical piano training and a learning Ableton his senior year of college.  The former biology major (and one-time aspiring vet) felt the calling of music some time ago—a calling which has not faded.  When he moved just outside of Austin, he met a representative of Invengo Productions at an open mic. The CEO/Producer Joshua Rumer was immediately drawn to DiLillo’s work and collaborated with him on Welsh Avenue’s debut, The Great Exchange (2017) and the upcoming EP.  Welsh Avenue influenced by a variety of artists across time, including the likes of Twin Shadow, Toro Y Moi, Passion Pit, The Beach Boys, and Michael Jackson.
