West Virginia born Country singer-songwriter Gethen Jenkins has just dropped his Gibson Guitar showroom session for his cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man”. Check out the performance video HERE. This is the second installment of Gethen’s three part session with Gibson, following the release of “The Long Black Veil” Lefty Frizzell cover, which can be viewed HERE.
“‘Simple Man’ is one of my all-time favorite tunes and Lynyrd Skynyrd is a band I idolized growing up. It’s an honor and pleasure to cover this song and thanks to Gibson Guitar for hosting me in performing this intimate version of a classic Southern rock track,” states Gethen Jenkins about the cover.
Back in October Gethen released the music video for his single “Bottle In My Hand” with Taste Of Country. Check out the raucous music video directed by Lior Molcho (Sia, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots) for Neon Cat Productions HERE. The track is off of Gethen’s forthcoming full-length album and was produced by four-time Grammy Award winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White, Old 97’s and Buddy Guy) for the Five Music Company/RED MUSIC.
Gethen Jenkins is a former U.S. Marine who served one tour of duty in Iraq. Gethen has played over 1,000 live shows, sharing the stage with prominent country acts such as The Marshall Tucker Band, Billy Joe Shaver, Wanda Jackson, David Allan Coe, Asleep at the Wheel, Shooter Jennings, Dale Watson, Whitey Morgan and many more. Recently being honored with the Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year awards at 2017’s California Country Awards, he was named a top 10 Country/Americana artist in Los Angeles County by LA Weekly and 2018’s Best Outlaw Country Artist, had songs in rotation at Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country, and just wrapped up a trip to Nashville, working on new music with Vance Powell. Look out for full-length album release in Spring 2019.
