Kentucky post-hardcore outfit Softspoken has released their brand new video.
“Paradox” comes as the band’s first new material since the impressive debut EP ‘Pathways‘, which debuted last year.
Vocalist Sam Scheuer discusses the thought process behind the new track: “The idea behind “Paradox” is that every person has a different perspective or idea of not only who they are, but how the world is. Digging even deeper, the lyrics touch on the “left brain/right brain” idea, where each side controls different functions of our bodies, and different parts of who we are as people. The overall message is that broadening one’s perception to see situations from another angle will lead to self-growth, better understanding, and hopefully more compassion.”
Formed in December of 2015, in Florence, Kentucky, Softspoken came together to embody a single idea – that people should take pride in who they are, and never be afraid to let their voice be heard. This message is reflected in their expansive and melodic post-hardcore sound.
Softspoken engages the listener with a finely honed array of influences from metal, punk and alternative. Striking a smart balance of instrumentally astute, melodically engaging and lyrically insightful, Softspoken offers a fine balance of heavy and melodic throughout their progressive debut EP.
The band, who explores deeper, introspective and reflective themes in their music, as well as the visual aspect of their art, were met with a positive response to their rookie release, with ‘Pathways’ already racking up over 800K streams on Spotify.
Softspoken’s growing popularity has seen them embark on a number of successful tours, including runs with Adventurer and Makari, as well as a set at Philadelphia’s annual Launch Music Conference.
The Florence natives spent much of the second half of 2018 working on new music at Glow in the Dark Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, with Matt Goldman (Underoath, As Cities Burn, The Chariot). “Paradox”emerges as the first release from this highly anticipated work, with more new music and announcements expected from the band in the first half of 2019.
