My Brightest Diamond will be joining the folks at Live from Here with Chris Thile this Saturday, January 12th for a very special live radio show that also features Mandolin Orange,Judy Gold and Gaby Moreno. The show is being recorded at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO and tickets are available HERE.
In addition, My Brightest Diamond just announced that she’ll be joining Death Cab For Cutie this Spring for a US tour that has her visiting the Southern United States for the first time since the release of her new and critically acclaimed LP A Million And One – out now via Rhyme & Reason Records. The additional 2019 tour dates, round out the two headlining runs that were announced at the end of last year and have the band hitting the West Coast in February including a Noise Pop Festival show on February 26th at the Rickshaw Stop in SF as well as the East Coast in May including the Rhythm N’ Blooms Festival in Knoxville on May 19th. In addition, she’ll be returning to Toronto this spring following the two sold out Danforth Music Hall shows she played with Stars in December 2018 – adding a May 11th Velvet Underground stop.
These upcoming tour dates are only the latest in a string of North American, UK and European treks the band has done to support A Million And One – released on November 23rd, 2018. The new LP is Shara Nova’s fifth as My Brightest Diamond and was produced by Nova along with Grammy-nominated producer Anthony “The Twilite Tone” Kahn (Gorillaz, Kanye West, Common), while Grammy-award winning engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Hozier, Lana Del Rey) mixed the 10-song set and Norwegian composer Helge Sten aka Deathprod mastered it.
Nova has always resisted the conventions of genre, blending elements of rock, art pop, and chamber music into a sound totally her own. Each album has taken this fiercely independent artist on a different sonic path and A Million And One is no exception. She stripped away her classical orchestrations and took a harder look at song form, creating her most electronic and pop album to date, which once again earned her accolades from the media including Rolling Stone, NPR,Pitchfork, Mother Jones, Billboard, New Sounds, Paste, and more.
