Madness To Creation

Where Insanity and Creativity Collide!

(Album Review) “Stuck In The Present” by FACE THE DAY

2 min read

Out of Prague, Czech Republic is a band that has a ton of potential and is literally Czech Republic’s answer to groups like Muse and Porcupine Tree, and that band is Face The Day.  This past October, Face The Day released their album entitled “Stuck In The Present”.

Mastermind Martin Schuster, who used to be in Mindwork, takes his eccentric songwriting and tremendous guitar work, and leads the charge to make some lush arrangements which will make other musicians and fans alike croon collectively over his work.

Case in point, the guitar work is impeccable and their ability to arrange is something to behold in the track “With Faith on My Side”, the vocals and arrangements alike are a beautiful and anthemic all in the same token.  In contrast, in “Elevator To The Sky”, Face The Day explores more of their progressive hard rock style with bone crushing rhythms and carefully timed guitar licks that allow sustainability in the listener’s attention span.  In “Settle Down”, Face The Day explores jazz infused guitar work with a mix of 60’s British invasion with some lush piano work after the first verse of the song.

In sports, the term “secret weapon” is used when a talent is underutilized yet when they are in the game, they provide that extra spark for their team.  Face The Day provides that needed spark in their music.  It should be Face The Day’s turn to be in the game, because when they are discovered, people will learn about them real quick.  Madness To Creation rates this a wonderful 9 out of 10 stars for this excellent body of work.  Check out the track listing below.
