(Concert Review) “Live At Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, Iowa featuring DOYLE”

Talk about stepping back to the early 1980’s where punk rock reigned supreme over the other genres!  We walked into this intimate venue located in downtown Des Moines where it looked like an old speakeasy with a burlesque club feel to it.  I got there late, so a lot of the photos that you will see are from the balcony.

Doyle, who many know from The Misfits, and his band  came out and took no prisoners.  It had that feel of an old-school punk rock show combined with some horror metal with some love thrown into the mix.  Alex Story, who is also the vocalist of Cancerslug, did a great job of encouraging the crowd by stating “this next song is a love song, you can dance if you wanna”!  And the crowd threw down with Doyle!

Doyle and the band ripped through the set with some serious shredding.  Some of the songs included “Abominator”, “Kiss Me As We Die”, “God of Flies”, and my absolute favorite song by them “We Belong Dead”.

Doyle is one of my favorite guitarists because he shreds ever so effortlessly, and Alex Story is an impeccable fit for the band.  The old-school punk rockers with today’s metal united under one flag of awesomeness with this incredible show.
