GRAMMY-winning rock icon Brian Setzer sits down with Dan Rather in this exclusive sneak peek at an all-new episode of The Big Interview, airing Tuesday, November 27 at 9pE/6pP.
During the candid conversation, Setzer sheds light on the man behind the rock persona. Though he’s known for being wild and outgoing on stage, Setzer reveals, “I’m a super private, shy person. Everybody thinks people get into rock n’ roll for the girls and the parties… but I really started to play because of the music.” Though Setzer has enjoyed a 40-year career, earning three GRAMMY Awards and recording a slew of hit songs, he still feels the original magic that brought him down this path every time he picks up his guitar and starts to play. He continues, “I can still hold this guitar, and the way it vibrates and the way I feel with it, it’s the best thing you could ever feel. It still makes me happy. It’s still the best thing ever.” Watch it here.
Additionally, Setzer discusses his incredible career founding the legendary Stray Cats trio, leading the 19-piece Brian Setzer Orchestra, and performing as a solo artist; reflects on his youth in Long Island, where he first fell in love with Rockabilly after discovering his father’s record collection; shares his father’s sage advice about tattoos; gets personal about his journey to sobriety; and recalls being reunited with one of his prized guitars, courtesy of the LAPD.
