“Deeper” by Lisa Stansfield, if music was comfort food this would be it!

I grew up on MTV and the beauty of that is I remember when MTV played music video and we had the opportunity to learn about all of these amazing artists.  Obviously, videos by Michael Jackson, New Kids On The Block, and George Michael stood out to me, but there was one video from a female recording artist that stood out to me, and it wasn’t anything by Madonna or Whitney Houston, it was “All Around The World” by Lisa Stansfield.  There was something sensual about the video, it was her expression and how she would look at the camera as she would sing “All around the world tonight/I can’t find by baby/I don’t know where and I don’t know why/I can’t find my baby”, it is plain to see why Lisa Stansfield has sold over 15 million records worldwide and why she is poised to make this comeback that could reach North America one more time with her April 6th release of “Deeper” via earMUSIC.

She still has it.  The “white soul” that she possesses in her music continues to incorporate pop, jazz, easy listening, and a sense of warmth in her songs that scream of longing for that lost special someone, love for a loved one(where she makes it feel like she’s going to rip the man’s clothes off as soon as he comes home in the song “Twisted”), and the hurtfulness of being used and lied to in “Billionaire”.  Yet in these songs, Lisa Stansfield showcases that innate ability to showcase emotions in her music and as a songstress, the arrangements are magnified and her voice becomes magnified as those emotions are conveyed in the songs.

This is what pop/soul music should sound like.  Today’s mainstream pop music sounds extremely shallow and looking for that instant gratification until the next best thing comes along.  Lisa Stansfield’s songs scream of undying devotion in her love songs, exudes class that radiates of that light in the darkest places, and has a resounding spirit of what romance should feel like, where you would do anything for that special someone instead of those meaningless one-night stands.  “Deeper” is full of class and radiant love songs.  Lisa Stansfield has done it again with this 9 out of 10 star offering!  Here is the track listing below!
