“Mark of Rot” by Cabal, what the world has been waiting on!

“Mark of Rot” by Cabal, what the world has been waiting on!

There are moments of brutality that take up the entire record entitled “Mark of Rot” by Cabal, whereas there are no moments of introspection or moments of clarity.  It is gruesome, bludgeoning and the cut to the jugular that the metal world so desperately needs.  On February 23rd, Danish death metal band Cabal will be releasing “Mark of Rot” via Long Branch Records.

In this record, Cabal combines several subgenres of metal, including death metal, black metal, djent, and hardcore.  When Cabal does hardcore, the breakdowns are sick and punishing, such as the track “Whispers”.  In that track, they show no mercy at all whatsoever.  In the track “Empty”, the ambiance sounds lurking, evil, and gruesome while the rhythm section provided by Malthe Stroyer Sorensen on bass and Nikolaj Kaae Kirk on drums sounds punishing.  “Empty” provides such a nice interlude into a more deathcore themed track entitled “Unworthy”.  The djent blends in quite nicely with the deathcore breakdowns in the sound.

The collaborations with C.J. McMahon of Thy Art Is Murder and Filip Danielsson of Humanity’s Last Breath are uncanny, which really allows Cabal to expand their dynamics into their already diverse arrangements in the tracks “Nothingness” and “The Darkest Embrace”.  Those two tracks showcase that there is no light at the end of the tunnel in the world of Cabal.

This band out of Denmark is going to do extremely well for themselves in the future with their grotesque rhythms, visceral screams and growls, and hammering guitars.  Madness To Creation rates this an 8 out of 10!  Check out the track listing below!
