“S.T.F.U.” by KillSET, turning back the clock!

Out of Los Angeles, California comes a band that looks to bring back the slam dancing, mosh pitting, while offering a bit of a tongue-in-cheek vibe to their music.  This four-piece band is known as KillSET, as they have recently released their record entitled “S.T.F.U” to the masses!

KillSET is composed of Chris Luca on vocals, Dave Comer on guitars, Mark Baker on bass, and James Dillon on drums.  KillSET is off to a fantastic start in their career as they have shared the stage with the likes of Fear Factory, Otep, Red, Adrenaline Mob, Nothing More, Flaw, and Saliva, as well as tapping Eddie Wohl, who has produced the likes of Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, Ill Nino, and 36 Crazyfists to produced “S.T.F.U”, which could potentially bring nu-metal back to the forefront.

“S.T.F.U.” starts off with an immediate hard-hitting attention getter entitled, “Get Up”, which will cause the listener to start their own mosh pit in their bedroom.  It crashes hard like lightning as Chris Luca showcases his charisma as a frontman that causes the listener to pay attention.  KillSET also delves into some social commentary on “Bully”, which is a positive song that talks about how cowardly and how stupid schoolyard bullies really are while taking a tongue-in-cheek approach to their stupidity while balancing the lyrical content about how bullying others can really scar a person and KillSET encourages the listener to stand up to bullying in that particular song.  “S.T.F.U.” goes on to KillSET’s personal anthem towards their fans entitled “Killers In The Pit”, this really showcases the diversity of the band as there is a mix of old-school hip-hop with 3rd Strike/Limp Bizkit elements as it will be a personal anthem for their fans as they continue to grow their rabid fanbase.  The rhythm section really strikes in “Killers In The Pit” as heads will nod, bodies will slam into one another, while turning the baseball cap sideways and mobbing out to the jam.  KillSET showcases their diversity in “S.T.F.U.” in “Broken Angel”, which is a heartfelt ballad that seems to talk about a person that is broken due to depression and addiction, and given the current state of music news, it is an issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.  Listeners will definitely appreciate the tongue-in-cheek vibe of their cover of “Jump” by Kris Kross, even the “haters” will secretly mob out to it when they’re by themselves in the car!  You know you’ll like it, you just don’t want to admit it, in all seriousness!

Based upon the throwback vibes that KillSET offers, as well as the diversity in the distortion and harmonics of the guitars coupled with the charisma of Chris Luca as a frontman of this band, “S.T.F.U.” will cause people to remember the nostalgia of nu-metal of yesteryear as KillSET drives nu-metal to the forefront!  This album earns a solid 8 out of 10 stars because KillSET is also not afraid to push their own musical boundaries, which will only cause them to grow and evolve as a band!  Check out the track listing below!
